Finish work continues on Amelia Jean! The fuel tank has been secured and the backseat has been reinstalled. Caulk lines are done on the bow. She has been placed on her new trailer. Ceiling boards and trim have been reinstalled along with most of her hardware. The steering wheel has been painted. The front seats will be reinstalled next and the battery will be connected. The crew says she will be done In about two months!

Summer is here and Amelia Jean is getting closer to being done by the day! Electric work is complete under the dash, next the crew will install and connect the main battery switch. The crew has reinstalled the steering column, oil line, and throttle linkage. The tachometer and choke cables have been serviced and reinstalled. Her front seat assembly is being reinstalled. Caulk lines are done on the foredeck.
Restoration/Photo Update - 4/13/24
Many updates from the shop! Amelia's fuel tank has been installed! The crew is just waiting on a new valve to complete the installation. The control panel, which will receive a mahogany frame and be mounted under the dash has arrived. The panel includes an hour meter, modern chargers, and switches for the blower, bilge pump, and a switch for an additional future accessory. Her deck hardware continues to be reinstalled. Her prop shaft and strut have also been reinstalled.
Restoration/Photo Update - 2/29/24
It's a special Leap Day update! Amelia Jean got her name, registration numbers, and Chris-Craft decals installed today! The varnish work is done and the ceiling boards have been reinstalled. Her floorboards have been reinstalled and new flooring has been added. A new blower and bilge pump have been installed. Electric and wiring work is underway. Caulking and paintwork have begun on her decking. Next, the crew will reinstall the propeller shaft and strut.
Restoration/Photo Update - 12/1/23
Amelia Jean has been completely faired to prep for its FINAL coat of varnish. Next, she will head to the paint room for the final coat that Shane and Gary will be doing. The crew has also been building up varnish on the various pieces for the boat. The new fuel tank is in the photos below as well.

Varnish build-up continues on Amelia Jean! Additionally, the crew has reinstalled the engine and begun work on wiring, drilling thru-hull fittings, and installing a new bilge pump.

Varnish build-up continues on Amelia Jean - Look at that shine! Additionally, the crew has drilled holes including the rudder post, engine water intake, and the drain plug. Work is now focused on the floor risers, that have just been painted, and are being fitted to install. Next, the crew will install the engine.

Restoration/Photo Update - 7/6/23
Impressive progress continues on Amelia Jean - Her transom has been rebuilt, the bilge has been painted, and the rear deck had a piece of rotten wood replaced. The topside has been sanded down and is awaiting a full refinishing.

Amelia Jean has been flipped! Her bottom is painted and the varnish on the gunwales is nearly complete. Lots of sanding and lots of varnish! Her transom is being put back together and will be finished soon. Next comes the installation of the wiring harness and fuel tank installation.

The sanding and fairing process on the bottom is done! The hull has received five coats of varnish thus far and the bottom is being painted. Holes for the propshaft and strut have been drilled into the bottom of the boat.

Amelia is having her port and starboard chine re-installed now that her bottom has been completed. Due to some rot in the original chine planking, she will be getting some new planks installed.

Work on the bottom planking continues. Most of the planks have now been steamed, bent and fitted into place. Securing the planks with the vise grips for a few days will allow them to form to their new shape before being permanently installed.

Amelia's bottom planks are being steamed and dry fit to the bottom. The Sapele planks will then be permanently secured with brass screws and 3M 5200.

The marine plywood and keel on Amelia Jean's new bottom has been bedded and secured. She is looking great!
Restoration/Photo Update - 10/1/22
Amelia Jean's new bottom is being installed! Currently, the marine plywood is being dry fit and all of the Sapele has been milled into planks. These planks will be installed on top of the marine plywood with 3M 5200 to build her new bottom. Thanks to Gary and the team for the fresh batch of pictures!
Restoration/Photo Update - 7/11/22
Amelia Jean is just about ready for her her new bottom to be installed! The crew is currently dry fitting the marine plywood that will go on first, followed by her new bottom planking. All but one of her original frames were replaced due to rot and cracks. The new bottom will be a leak free (no soak), 5200 Bottom. Her engine work is complete and the engine be reinstalled in the boat once the new bottom is complete. It will be test started soon... Stay tuned! Her original propellers have been refinished, tuned and balanced. The new propeller shaft has arrived to the shop, in addition to her new gas tank.

Amelia Jean's new frames are undergoing some last minute adjustment as marine plywood panels are being fitted, cut and painted for her new bottom!
Restoration/Photo Update - 5/24/22
Amelia Jean's new gripe Is being dry fit and formed up to the keel. Additionally, her engine work is nearing completion. Her rebuilt carburetor has been refitted and her new distributor cap and wires have been attached. Her engine has been repainted to original using authentic gray Chrysler Ace Marine Engine paint. Once the starter is rebuilt and returned we will be able to test run the engine.

Restoration/Photo Update - 4/21/22
Restoration work to rebuild Amelia Jean's bottom is continuing at a nice pace. Nearly all of the bottom frames that needed to be rebuilt are done. This includes new stern corner posts. New brass screws and fasteners have been ordered. The new fuel tank has been ordered. Work on several engine components is underway. The engine has been repainted to original with genuine Chrysler Ace Marine Engine paint. Some of the photos below show Jack (Lowell Boats) making some very precise cuts!

Restoration Update - 3/23/22
Restoration work continues on Amelia Jean at an impressive pace! Her entire bottom has been removed including all bottom planking and the outer chine. During the bottom removal process additional cracked ribs were found along with a fair bit of rotten wood. Her hull, decking, stem and transom are in good condition and will all be preserved. She needs a new keel, gripe, and all new bottom planking. Her bottom will be replaced with new marine grade plywood and Sapele.

Restoration Update - 3/10/22
Restoration work began on Amelia Jean on March 4th, 2022. During the first week of restoration all her deck hardware was removed along with the engine and fuel system. Her bilge was degreased and power washed. Rotten wood was discovered on the starboard side of the boat beneath the drivers seat. Initial inspection of the hull also revealed several broken ribs and structural damage to the keel. Next, the bottom of the boat will be removed and additional inspection will take place prior to installing her new bottom.
Work has also begun on the engine and fuel system. The generator has been sent off to be converted to 12 volts. The water pump, starter, and carburetor were also sent off for service. The original fuel pump had previously been replaced with an electrical pump. A new mechanical pump has been ordered in addition to a new fuel tank. The previous fuel tank was original to the boat and had developed a leak.
